Safety Questions
- Should I worry about bugs?
- Surprisingly, the Uatuma does not have a significant pest/bug problem. This region is known for its bug-friendly environment; however, please take necessary bug-bite prevention precautions as recommended by your medical consultant.
- What medical measures are taken?
- Please see your travel medical consultant before your trip. Although there are some standard immunizations and recommendations set forth when traveling to the Amazon region, each person is unique and should consult their medical consultant. If you're curious in seeing what may be recommended by your medical consultant, please see the recommendations of a particular doctor: click here.
- What about insurance?
- We highly recommend you get travelers insurance for trip cancellation and medical coverage to cover any of your mishaps before or during your travel to the Amazon. See the following links for travel insurance companies: www.specialtyrisk.com / www.travelguard.com
- What about snakes?
- Like anywhere else in the world, there are snakes in the Amazon too. Although it is difficult to pinpoint exactly where snakes may (or may not) be, we do our best to avoid habitats for snakes.
- Will piranha eat me?
- It is rare that any of our traveling guests get in the water where this might occur. Generally, a piranha is attracted only to bloody flesh in the water. Avoid getting in the water with this condition.

- No, the boats have life jackets; however, it is your responsibility to use it and keep one with you at all times.
